Edit a sharing

Existing syncs can be edited after the fact — no more ending and recreating. Open the three-dot menu of the sharing in the dashboard and choose “Edit”.

SettingDescription
Source calendarsAdd or remove calendars. New sources are fully backfilled (including existing events); removed sources automatically clean up their copies in the target calendar.
Target calendarFor your own syncs, switch the target calendar. The copies are removed from the old target and transferred to the new calendar.
VisibilitySwitch between “Busy only”, “Title + time” and “All details” — see Visibility levels.
Placeholder titleChange the text shown instead of “Blocked” with “Busy only” — see Placeholder title.
PrefixSet, change or remove a title prefix per source calendar — see Prefix in the target calendar.
All-day eventsUnder “Advanced settings”: whether all-day events block the day — see All-day events.

The sync preview on the right of the dialog shows live how events will look in the target calendar with the new settings.

After saving, the sharing briefly shows “Updating…”: Kalender-Sync rewrites all already-synced copies in the background with the new settings. Depending on calendar size this takes a few seconds to a few minutes — nothing else to do on your side.

  • Your original events always stay untouched — only the synced copies in the target calendar are adjusted.
  • If you switch to a stricter visibility (e.g. from “All details” to “Busy only”), older copies outside the sync window are removed as well, so nowhere shows more detail than intended.
  • During a target calendar switch the sharing is briefly paused while the copies move, and resumes automatically.
  • Two-way sync: visibility, placeholder, prefix and the all-day option can be set per direction. The two calendars themselves are fixed for two-way syncs — end and recreate for that.
  • Sharings with other people: you can edit the sources and all rendering options; the target calendar belongs to the recipient and stays fixed.
  • Unreachable source calendars (e.g. deleted at the provider) appear in the list marked “unavailable” and can be unchecked — swap a dead source for a new one without losing the sync.
