What are subscribe calendars?

Open in ChatGPT

Subscribe calendars make the events of your club, your classes or your venue subscribable. Visitors add your calendar to their calendar app once. New and changed events then show up there on their own, nobody has to type anything.

Kalender Sync hosts three things for you:

  • A calendar feed (ICS) on feeds.kalender-sync.de. This is what your visitors’ calendar apps subscribe to.
  • A subscribe page at app.kalender-sync.de/subscribe/<id> with your logo, banner, organizer, upcoming events and a button with an app menu. → The subscribe page
  • A button for your website that you add with two lines of HTML. → Embed the button
  • Clubs publishing match days, practice sessions and events.
  • Class providers and studios whose schedule keeps changing.
  • Schools and education providers with holidays, parent evenings and project days.
  • Websites with a calendar plugin, such as WordPress with Pie Calendar. The plugin writes the events, Kalender Sync makes them subscribable.

Subscribe calendars are filled through the Publisher API. There are three ways:

  1. A plugin or tool that supports the Publisher API. In Kalender Sync you create a key under Settings › Developer / API and paste it into the plugin. From then on the plugin writes every change to your subscribe calendar.
  2. Your own code. Your website or system talks to the API directly. → Publisher API
  3. Your AI assistant. Through the Kalender Sync MCP server an assistant can create subscribe calendars and maintain their events. The guide follows as soon as the feature is available.

The Free plan is enough to try it: with a sandbox key you create test calendars that work in real calendar apps. → Plans and limits

Calendar apps fetch subscribed calendars on their own schedule. As soon as you change an event, the feed serves the new version on the next fetch. When the app fetches next is up to the app:

  • Google Calendar: usually after a few hours, sometimes later.
  • Apple Calendar and Outlook: it varies by app and settings.

More in the FAQ.

  • No trackers, no cookie banner. The subscribe page and the button only load from our own domain.
  • We don’t record who subscribes. No IP address, no user agent. We only count how many calendar apps fetch the feed. → Statistics
  • Hosted in the EU, GDPR compliant. Event content is stored encrypted in our database.
  • The note “you already subscribed” on the subscribe page lives only in the visitor’s browser.
