# Connect STRATO

<PlanNote plan="basic" />

You connect the calendar of your STRATO mailbox over **CalDAV** — with your **mailbox address** and your **mailbox password**. There is nothing to create beforehand. After that everything runs automatically, and sync picks up changes **every 5 minutes**.

:::caution[The most common pitfall]
You need the password of your **email mailbox** — not the password of the STRATO customer login you use to manage contracts and domains. And with STRATO the address usually sits on **your own domain** (e.g. `name@your-company.com`), not on `@strato.de`.
:::

## Requirement

You need a STRATO mailbox **with a calendar** — that comes with **Webmail Premium** and **Webmail Business**. To check, sign in to [STRATO Webmail](https://webmail.strato.de/): if you see a calendar there, you're set.

## Connect in Kalender Sync

1. In the dashboard, go to **"Connect calendar"** → **"STRATO"**.
2. Enter your **full mailbox address** — exactly the one you use to sign in to STRATO Webmail.
3. Enter your **mailbox password** and click **"Test & Connect"** — Kalender Sync checks the connection right away.

You don't need to enter the server address (`dav.webmail.strato.de`) — Kalender Sync knows it and finds your calendars automatically.

:::tip[Prefer a password just for Kalender Sync?]
STRATO Webmail also offers **application passwords**. They aren't required, but you can create one and use it here instead of your mailbox password. That way you can revoke access later without changing your mailbox password.
:::

## If you see "Sign-in failed"

- Does signing in at [webmail.strato.de](https://webmail.strato.de/) work with the same details? If not, the address or password is wrong.
- Did you really use the **mailbox password**, not the customer login password?
- Changed your mailbox password recently? Then reconnect with the new password.
- No calendar found? Your plan probably doesn't include a calendar (see Requirement).

Still stuck? Write to us at [support@kalender-sync.de](mailto:support@kalender-sync.de) — the STRATO connection is new, so every report helps.

## End access

In Kalender Sync: [Remove a calendar](https://docs.kalender-sync.de/en/connect-calendar/disconnect/). If you used an application password, you can also delete it in STRATO Webmail — that ends access immediately. With the mailbox password, access ends as soon as you change it.
