# Connect Google Calendar

You connect Google Calendar via account sign-in (OAuth) — no passwords stored with us. Available on all plans. From **Basic**, sync runs **almost instantly** via real-time webhooks (Google pushes changes to us directly); on **Free**, changes sync every 30 minutes.

## Step by step

1. In the dashboard, open **"Connect calendar"** and choose **"Google Calendar"**.
2. Pick the right account in the Google window and sign in.
3. Confirm access — **leave all checkboxes ticked**. If you remove one, sync will fail later and you'll have to reconnect.
4. Back in Kalender Sync: in the **"Select Calendars"** dialog, tick the calendars you want to use. You can change the selection any time in the settings.

## Which permissions are requested — and why?

| Permission | What for |
| --- | --- |
| **Read** calendars & events | Detect your source events and pick up changes |
| **Write** calendars & events | Create, update and clean up blocker events in the target calendar |
| Basic profile (email) | Match the account to your Kalender Sync account |

Write access is required even though your original events are **never modified** — Kalender Sync only manages its own blockers. The full breakdown for IT and privacy teams: [Permissions in detail](https://docs.kalender-sync.de/en/privacy-it/permissions/).

## Known pitfalls

- **Wrong account preselected** — if you're signed into several Google accounts, double-check the account picker. When in doubt, use a private browser window.
- **Google Workspace: "App blocked"** — your Workspace admin restricts third-party apps. The ways out: [My organisation blocks the connection](https://docs.kalender-sync.de/en/connect-calendar/org-blocked/).
- **"Please reconnect" after a few days** — access expired or was revoked: [Connection expired](https://docs.kalender-sync.de/en/troubleshooting/reconnect/).

## Disconnecting
