# FAQ

## How fast do changes reach subscribers?

As soon as you create, change or delete an event, the feed serves the new version on the next fetch. When that fetch happens is up to your subscribers' calendar app:

- **Google Calendar** fetches subscribed calendars on its own schedule, usually every few hours, sometimes less often. There is no way to make Google fetch sooner.
- **Apple Calendar** fetches as often as set on the device.
- **Outlook** (web and desktop) also fetches on its own schedule, more or less often depending on the version.

The feed suggests an hourly fetch to apps. Apple and Outlook honor that within limits, Google ignores it. For short-notice cancellations, also post a note on your website or in your newsletter.

## What do subscribers see?

Subscribers see your calendar as a separate calendar in their app, with the name you gave it. It contains your events with title, time, location, description and link. They cannot edit the events, and you don't see who subscribed.

By default, subscribed events don't block your subscribers' availability: they show as "free" so a class schedule doesn't fill anyone's calendar. Your events can set this differently one by one.

If you cancel an event (status "cancelled"), the feed marks it as cancelled; how that looks depends on the app. Deleted events disappear on the next fetch.

## How do people unsubscribe?

Subscribers unsubscribe in their calendar app, like from any other subscribed calendar: they remove the calendar from their calendar list. Depending on the app the option is called something like "Unsubscribe", "Remove" or "Delete" and sits in the calendar's menu or settings. The events then disappear from their app.

There is nothing to unsubscribe on our side, because we don't store subscriber data. When an app stops fetching the feed for 14 days, the subscription no longer counts as active in your statistics.

## Do my subscribers need a Kalender Sync account?

No. Subscribing works without an account, without signing in and without an email address.

## Do I need a cookie banner for the button?

Not for the button itself: it sets no cookies, stores nothing and sends no data to us unless someone clicks. Whether your website needs a cookie banner for other reasons depends on your website.

## Where is the data stored?

On servers in the EU. Event content is stored encrypted in our database. Only publish events in subscribe calendars that may be public, because anyone with the link can fetch the feed.

## Can I create several calendars?

Yes, depending on your plan. Many organizers create one calendar per category or venue, for example "Classes" and "Workshops". Visitors then subscribe only to what interests them. → [Plans and limits](https://docs.kalender-sync.de/en/abo-kalender/tarife/)

## I have a problem with the content of a subscribe page

Use the **"Report this page"** link at the bottom of the subscribe page. We block calendars that violate our terms.
